The World Spirometry Day 2012 in Hong Kong was held at the Quarry Bay Community Hall on 17th June, 2012. The event was officiated by Dr Thomas Mok and Prof Mary Ip and Council Members from the Hong Kong Lung Foundation, HKTS and ACCP (Hong Kong & Macau Chapter). Two public educational talks on Lung function tests and COPD were given by Dr Fanny Ko and Dr Johnny Chan respectively. Health check counters with simple spirometry and doctors’ enquiry counters were opened to public from all walks of life. The Hong Kong Fencing School was invited to give a life demonstration on fencing in support of the event. The estimated number of public participants on that day was more than 300 with more than 200 spirometry performed. The event was reported to the Federation of International Respiratory Societies (FIRS) and being recorded with other World Spirometry Day events held in other parts of the world.
The event was preceded in the prior two weeks with a series of health educational talks by Council members as listed below, together with some snapshots of the World Spirometry Day in Hong Kong.
