The annual HKU Health Exhibition was hosted by the Hong Kong University Medical Society and Nursing Society Health Exhibition Subcommittee, with full support from HKLF, HKTS and ACCP (HK & Macau Chapter) this year. The 4-day exhibition was held from Oct 2 – 3, 2010 in Tsuen Wan Plaza and Oct 9 – 10, 2010 in Shatin Town Hall. The Exhibition provided the public with updated information on respiratory health and diseases including pulmonary physiology, pulmonary infections, asthma, COPD, lung cancer, etc. General health checks including blood pressure measurement and portable spirometry were offered to visitors and the counselling offered by medical and nursing students was well received by the public. The estimated number of visitors was 2000 over the four days.
The opening ceremony on Oct 9, 2010 was officiated by Professor Sum-ping LEE, Dean of the LKS Faculty of Medicine, HKU. The opening speech was given by Ms Dorothy Wong, the Chairlady of the organizing subcommittee, followed by speech given by Dr Maureen Wong on behalf of ACCP (HK & Macau Chapter), accompanied by Dr KS Chan, Chairman of HKLF and Dr CY Tam, President of HKTS.
Dr WM Chan, Dr Kam-shing Lau and Dr David CL Lam were the Advisors to the Organizing Committee on behalf of the three local respiratory societies. Extensive support in offering medical advice during the exhibition has been provided by the following respiratory specialists from the various hospitals, including Dr. CY Tam, Dr. Wilson Yee, Dr David CL Lam, Dr CK Wan, Dr Jane Cheung, Dr WM Chan, Dr Johnny Chan, Dr KS Lau, Dr Maureen Wong, Dr Alice SS Ho, Dr YC Yeung, Dr Loletta So, Dr Kit-man Sin and Dr Kah-lin Choo.
Free entry. All are welcome. There will be free health checks and health counseling during the exhibition period by medical students from The University of Hong Kong on a one-to-one basis. Visitors will be given a small gift until stock lasts.
