With the support from the Hong Kong Lung Foundation, the Hong Kong Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians (Hong Kong and Macau Chapter) jointly organized the Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM), which was successfully held in March this year at the Marriot Hotel of Hong Kong.
More than 400 participants attended this one-day meeting on the 30th March. Similar to previous years, this meeting was packed with exciting presentations delivered by prominent expert speakers, both locally and from overseas.
The ASM began with a symposium of “Clinical Updates”. It was followed by a concurrent programme consisting of “Free Paper Presentation of Dr William Chen’s Young Investigator’s Award” together with an allied-health symposium on “Respiratory Issues in Air-travelling” and “Aeromedical retrieval and transport”, and both were well attended by the audience. It was then immediately followed by the “ICU Symposium”.
After the lunch symposium on “A New Paradigm for using Combination Therapy in Asthma” given by a well renowned expert from Canada, Professor Malcolm Sears, we had an afternoon session of “Asthma Symposium”. The ASM ended with a symposium on a very popular topic on “Update on Vaccine Development” which was held in response to a growing awareness on its importance in public health care.
