The 2010 Annual Scientific Meeting has been another successfully organized event with more than 330 participants this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening remarks of Dr. KS Chan, Chairman of Hong Kong Lung Foundation, centred around the theme of \u201cYear of the Lung\u201d in the current year. That was followed by the session of \u201cClinical Updates\u201d where advances in the areas of lymphangioleiomyomatosis, respiratory infections in immuno-compromised hosts and surgical treatment for COPD were delivered by Dr. PC Wong, Prof. YL Kwong and Dr. Innes Wan respectively. A special \u201cAsthma Forum\u201d followed, which was chaired by Dr. Christopher Lai, and joined by a distinguished panel of local and international experts with Dr. Daniel Ng, Dr. Fanny Ko, Prof. Ratko Djukanovic and Prof. Wisia Wedzicha. The forum was organized to critically evaluate the recent FDA\u2019s recommendations on the use of LABAs in asthma based on existing evidence. The concurrent \u201cAllied-health Symposium\u201d focused on \u201cOxygen Delivery\u201d with lectures delivered by Dr. Wai-Kei Lam and Ms. Aileen Chu. The following session was \u201cInterventional Procedures\u201d, with updated reviews in interventional bronchoscopy, EBUS and pleuroscopy, and being addressed by Drs. Philip Eng, Matthew Wong and Johnny Chan respectively. The theme of the \u201cLuncheon Symposium\u201d was on the treatment goals of combination therapy in COPD, which was delivered by the world-renowned expert of COPD, Prof. Wisia Wedzicha. The \u201cYoung Specialist Track\u201d followed, with excellent case presentations from Drs. Bing Lam, Joseph Chan and CH Lee, covering areas of carcinoma of bronchus, hypersensitivity pneumonitis due to Penicllium and extra-medullary erythropoesis presenting as intra-thoracic masses respectively. The last, but certainly not the least important, session of the day was dedicated to \u201cAdvances in Therapeutics\u201d, when Prof. Djukanovic and Dr. CM Tam shared with us the exciting news in the areas of anti-IgE treatment in asthma and development of new anti-tuberculous drugs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
