A scientific meeting on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) was held successfully on February 27, 2006, in the Sheraton Hotel, Tsimshatsui, Kowloon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This meeting, entitled \u201cRelease patients from the burden of COPD\u201d, was co-organized by the Hong Kong Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians (Hong Kong & Macau Chapter), and aimed to update medical practitioners of the recent therapeutic advances for the disease<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Professor Denis O\u2019Donnell, Professor of Medicine and Physiology at Queen\u2019s University, Canada, had delivered a talk entitled \u201cImpacting patient-centered outcomes in COPD: breathlessness and exercise tolerance.\u201d In his talk, Professor Denis O\u2019Donnell outlined how dynamic hyperinflation contributes to dyspnea and how it can be corrected with pharmacotherapy.
